Corozal House of Culture celebrates Hanal Pixan! (Oct.31st, 2015)
The Corozal House of Culture through the National Institute of Culture and History and in the effort of cultural revival presents the celebration of “Hanal Pixan” this October 31st, 2015 at the Corozal Town Park. Hanal Pixan ( which means ‘food for the souls) honors the Maya tradition of those departed. As a feature of this, the Corozal House of Culture will be displaying two traditional altars (of child & adult). In addition to this, the Xaibe Nicte Ha Children’s group will be presenting Cultural dances, not to mention Corozal Historian Mr.Roy Rodriguez will be presenting on the cultural tradition of this event. Participants will also be afforded the opportunity to sample authentic Maya cuisine which will be on sale.
A warm invitation is especially extended to organizations, businesses, educational institutions and also private individuals to participate in this event by preparing altars to be put on display.
